Good King Wencelas

Good king Wenceslas looked out,
[gud king wenclas luked aut]
on the feast of Stephen,
[on d físt of stývn]
when the snow lay round about,
[wín d snaw ley roun dbaut]
deep and crisp and even.

Brightly shone the moon that night, 
[britly šaun d můn dat najt]
tho' the frost was cruel, 
[thó d frost was kruel]
when a poor man came in sight, 
[wín e půr men kam in sajt]
gath'ring winter fuel.

Jednou Václav dobrý král, právě na Štěpána,
hleděl oknem v širou dál a spatřil chudáka.

Když pak vyjde měsíček, mrzne až to praští,
venku chudák stařeček, sbírá zbytky chrastí.
